RESIDENTIAL TRASH & RECYCLING GUIDELINES AND ENFORCEMENT POLICY

TRASH & RECYCLING PICKUP GUIDELINES:

Only items placed inside the official “TOT” trash cans will be collected. Personal trashcans, boxes, or trashcans from other providers will not be serviced.

Disposal of “Unacceptable Solid Waste” as outlined in the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act of 1976, 24 U.S.C. 6901: this includes yard debris, liquids, paint cans with wet paint (dried paint is acceptable), hazardous materials, and deceased animals.

CAN PLACEMENT AND TIMING:

Residential trash and recycling is picked up each Wednesday unless otherwise notified. Place trash and recycling cans by the curb on Tuesday evening or early Wednesday morning. Ensure cans are set out by street but not to impede the flow of traffic. Cans should be removed from the side of the streets no later than Wednesday evenings. Cans are not permitted to be left by the street either empty or with trash no sooner than Tuesday evenings.

CORRECT CAN POSITIONING:

Situate the trash and recycling cans at least 3 feet apart. Maintain a 10-foot clearance from obstacles like mailboxes, vehicles, streetlights, and electrical poles. This helps prevent property damage. The containers should face the street with handles and wheels directed towards your home. Incorrect positioning could result in trash spillage upon return by mechanical arms.

ENFORCEMENT AND PENALTY

1ST violation – Written warning.

Subsequent violations - $25.00 fine. If not paid, penalty can be a lien against the property, assessed on the tenant’s utility bill, or processed as a civil matter for collection.

WAIVER CLAUSE

If your situation does not permit you to adhere to this policy, please contact the Beulaville Town Hall to be considered for a waiver of policy requirements.

ADDITIONAL NOTES:

The collection trucks are equipped with a GIS system that records video of the pickup process. Remember, only trash and recyclables inside the official cans will be collected. Loose cardboard or items should be broken down and condensed in order to be placed in the blue recycle bins provided by the Town. Should you find your trash uncollected by Wednesday afternoon, please reach out to the Beulaville Town Hall at 910-298-4647 and provide them with your address for a quick resolution.
